I've never actually washed all my laundry and dumped it on a pile on the floor to be folded ....until now. I've got to say the pile is substancial. Really big. It's going to take me all of Dr. Phil and Oprah to fold. I hope Oprah isn't having one of those, "what not to wear" shows because if they could see me now I'd send them into cardiac arrest. Sweat pants and a baby drool covered tank top have never been hip. Frizzy buns and no make-up never make it onto the runway for haute fashion. Alas, I am uncool, and unhip, and frizzy.
I've never figured out how women can always look put together. It takes a lot of work to look that good. French manicures, pedicures, perfectly tweezed eyebrows to complement perfectly made-up eyes, toned bodies and subtle highlights on neatly cut hair: that is a full time job. Luckily I live in middle class suburbia where tacky fingernail polish and an extra 15ish pounds are the norm at Wal-mart. This is a playing field on which I can compete. I can usually pull off a pedicure, or nicely applied make-up or tweezed eyebrows - just not all at the same time. And where I live that is good enough. LA and NYC and Paris can have their high fashion. I like Crocks and capris from 2 seasons ago better. There is more to life that laundry and looking good.

Amen to that! I have one friend who I always inevitably run into at Babies R Us after a long night of no sleep and I still haven't brushed my hair that morning. She ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS looks completely put together with make up, hair done, and a beautiful outfit complete with the perfect jewelry. How does she do it??????
